Supply Chain business unbundled from IQ group

Johannesburg, 5 November 2003 - IQ Commerce, the supply chain division of The IQ Business Group, has been unbundled from the group and will now operate as an independent business rebranded as Volition. The shareholding in the business after the unbundling will be held by specialist private equity fund Treacle Venture Partners and the management of Volition.

Volition will continue to focus on its core business, which is the delivery of business process and information technology solutions in the end-to-end automotive and consumer goods distribution chains. Major recent assignments include supply chain improvement projects for Kraft, McCain, Alpha and Murray & Roberts and specialist services for BMW, Nedbank, National Brands, Omnia and Petzetakis.

“Volition delivers tailored business process and technology solutions for specific challenges faced by clients through the alignment of people skills, technology and processes. Its key strength is its ability to leverage sustainable value from its industry and process skills,” said managing director Cobus Rossouw.

Treacle partner Konrad Fleischhauer said that as IQ Commerce, Volition had built up an outstanding reputation for innovation, intelligence and value delivery in its market sector. “This is a business with tremendous growth potential and its management clearly has the vision as well as the capacity to realise that potential,” said Fleischhauer, who is joining the Volition board.
