Parsec chooses Treacle
as strategic equity partner - February 2002
We are delighted to announce a partnership
with one of South Africa’s most promising technology
companies, Parsec Holdings. We have been working with
the management team for some months now and recently acquired
a 22,5% interest in the business.
Parsec, one of the few local companies
operating in the high technology environment, was established
in 1993 by a team of electronic engineers. Today the
business boasts a base of 33 highly skilled electronic
engineers and a technically strong management team and has
notched up an enviable profit track record. It has grown
by more than 50% per annum over the past three years and
registered an 88% increase in turnover in its 2001 financial
year.
Parsec provides outsourced hardware and
software design and development services to product
development companies. Its services include customised
embedded circuit boards for, among others, the
telecommunication and defence industries.
In its short life Parsec has attracted a
great deal of interest in the technology world along with some
prestigious awards. In 2001, Parsec was a double winner in the
President’s Awards for Export Achievement and the Technology
100 Awards. Parsec was named SA’s most outstanding small or
medium-sized enterprise and also received the President’s
Award for technology excellence in the information and
communication technology sector.
Parsec has successfully penetrated a number
of international markets with its pioneering application of
telecom and datacom digital technologies and international
clients include Alcatel and Siemens.
